The catalog states: “In compliance with California Assembly Bill 2473 (AB2473), InterCoast Colleges affirms that its Substance Use Disorder (SUD) education courses (AOD222X and AOD223X) meet the updated standards set forth by the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS).”
These two 45 hour courses must both be taken to satisfy the requirements and include instruction in DHCS-mandated core competencies: Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM); American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Criteria; Cultural Competence; Ethics and Professional Responsibility; and Counselor Wellness and Self-Care.
