The catalog states: “In compliance with California Assembly Bill 2473 (AB2473), InterCoast Colleges affirms that its Substance Use Disorder (SUD) education courses (AOD222X, and AOD223X) meet the updated standards set forth by the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS).”
The catalog states: “Two 45 hour courses must both be taken to satisfy the initial requirements for registration…”
They include instruction in the following DHCS-mandated core competencies: the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Criteria, cultural competence, ethics and professional responsibility, and counselor wellness and self-care.
