Education records are a student’s school files — the records an institution keeps about a student and their education, and whose privacy federal law protects.

The catalog states: “Education records are defined as records which are comprised of materials and documents containing information directly related to a student and their education that are maintained by the College.”
“The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records.”
What the catalog says
InterCoast Colleges’ catalog states this under “STUDENT RECORDS POLICY” (pp. 47–48).
“The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) affords students certain rights with respect to their education records.”
Among those rights: “The right to inspect and review the student’s education records within forty-five (45) days of the day that the College receives a request for access.”
