Education records are the materials and documents a school maintains that contain information directly related to a student and that student’s education.

“The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records.”
The catalog’s own definition reads: “Education records are defined as records which are comprised of materials and documents containing information directly related to a student and their education that are maintained by the College.”
What the catalog says
InterCoast Colleges’ catalog states this under “STUDENT RECORDS POLICY” (pp. 47–48).
“The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) affords students certain rights with respect to their education records.”
The first of those rights is: “The right to inspect and review the student’s education records within forty-five (45) days of the day that the College receives a request for access.”
