What Is InterCoast Colleges' Absenteeism Policy?

Absenteeism Policy is an institution’s statement on absence from class: how an absence is to be reported, and what consequences follow as absences accumulate.

What the catalog says

The catalog states: “If, for any reason, a student must be absent from class, the student must contact the instructor immediately. Repeated absences may result in disciplinary action, just as it may on a job. Excessive absences may also lead to program interruption and/or dismissal.”

On graduation: “To meet graduation requirements, a student must achieve, at a minimum, 80% cumulative attendance reliability standards…”

It adds: “Students absent or not actively participating online for more than 14 calendar days will be dropped.”

Where it applies

InterCoast Colleges’ catalog states this under “ABSENTEEISM POLICY” (pp. 33–34).

Related attendance topics include excused absences, make-up work, tardiness and early departure, attendance probation, and the programs.
