Basic Refrigeration is the set of principles by which a sealed system transfers heat to produce cooling: thermodynamics, heat transfer, and pressure and temperature relationships. At InterCoast Colleges it is taught in the HVAC Technician program.

This course covers the basic principles of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning.
The catalog states: “This course will provide instruction on thermodynamics, heat transfer, pressure and temperature relationships, and the fundamentals of refrigeration.”
The student will learn the major components and accessories of the sealed system including metering devices, evaporators, compressors and condensers.
