What Does “Tardy” Mean at InterCoast Colleges?

Tardy describes a student who arrives late to a scheduled session of class, after instruction has already begun.

What it means

The catalog gives the term a fixed meaning: “Tardy” definition: Student arrives more than 15 minutes late to class on campus.”

The expectation behind it is stated plainly: “Students are expected to be on time for each on campus session of instruction and are expected to attend for the entire session of class.”

What the catalog says

InterCoast Colleges’ catalog states this under “TARDINESS / EARLY DEPARTURE POLICY” (p. 33).

The same section adds: “A student is considered tardy for class if he/she arrives later than 15 minutes after the scheduled start of class or if they leave early from class.”

On consequences: “Students will be responsible for any course content missed by showing up tardy or leaving early.”
